Here at LiFi Tech News, we are always on the lookout for innovations that push the boundaries of connectivity, and today’s announcement out of Edinburgh is a massive leap forward. pureLiFi has officially joined forces with Askey, a titan in advanced network communications equipment, to completely transform the Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) market.

The core of this landmark partnership? A cutting-edge, “all-in-one” solution that merges a high-performance 5G modem with pureLiFi’s proprietary through-window bridging technology.

Solving the “Last-Metre” Challenge

For years, the broadband industry has struggled with getting high-speed outdoor 5G signals indoors without significant signal degradation caused by modern building materials. The traditional fix involved drilling holes, running cables, and scheduling costly, time-consuming professional installations.

Enter the pureLiFi and Askey collaboration. Their streamlined, self-installable Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) tackles this "last-metre" hurdle head-on. By using LiFi technology and wireless power, the system seamlessly transmits gigabit broadband data straight through the glass. Users can easily place the CPE outdoors to catch the best 5G signal and beam it inside, no drill required.

Disrupting the Broadband Business Model

What makes this announcement so disruptive is the integration. Unlike previous setups that required separate accessories (such as pureLiFi’s Bridge XC Flex), this new tech bakes the bridging capability directly into the Askey CPE.

For telecommunications companies, this is a total game-changer. Operators can offer their customers a simple self-install box, significantly slashing waitlists and eliminating the need for expensive technician “truck rolls.” Not only does this onboard users faster and more affordably, but it also reduces CO2 emissions and can increase network capacity by up to 6x.

What the Leaders Are Saying

Leadership from both camps are highly optimistic about the impact of this joint venture, noting that it will fundamentally change how high-speed 5G internet is delivered.

Robert Lin, CEO of Askey, highlighted the long journey to solve this exact issue: Askey is committed to staying at the cutting edge of connectivity by working with global innovators like pureLiFi. We’ve been working for 5 years to solve the problem of bringing outdoor FWA signals indoors. pureLiFi’s LiFi bridge is the answer. Our combined system will enable carriers to get users connected cost-effectively and quickly while improving the overall 5G experience.”

Ron Schaeffer, CEO of pureLiFi, echoed this enthusiasm, emphasising the power of LiFi as the ultimate 5G companion: “Our proprietary wireless bridging technology is the key to unlocking the full potential of 5G FWA indoors. Together, we are providing a solution that is secure, unjammable, reliable, and incredibly simple for the end-user to install.”

When Can We See It?

Whether you live in a dense urban environment, the suburbs, or a rural area, this technology promises to make gigabit-class data much more accessible. If you're eager to see it in action, you won't have to wait long. The integrated units will be available for demonstration and testing with telco carriers worldwide within the first half of 2026.
